Introduction

Ganyjuu Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Corporation for Family Support Services, (Ganyjuu) was established in June 2005. It was borne out of the need for specialized Indigenous Family Support services in the Logan, Browns Plains and Beaudesert regions. Prior to this date Ganyjuu operated for many years as a single family support program operating from a large Indigenous Corporation.

The staff of Ganyjuu are highly trained and experienced in their respective fields. Both staff and the Executive Committee are committed to developing and maintaining a high class leading Indigenous Community Corporation which is dedicated to improving and enhancing Indigenous family support needs in these areas.

Ganyjuu is currently funded by the Queensland Department of Child Safety for the provision of Recognised Entity advisory services to the Department and the Minister as required under the provisions of the Child Protection Act, 1999, (the Act). Ganyjuu is also funded by the Queensland Department Justice Attorney General for the Logan Indigenous Community Justice Program.

In January 2006 Ganyjuu was presented with an Australia Day Award, (Australia Day Council) by the Minister for Child Safety for outstanding work provided to the Department and the community it represents.
